The zfs file system snapshots are created by using the zfs snapshot command and the snapshots will be named as similar as you find it from below
The below example will show you how to create a snapshot of dbpool/dba/ora as named thursday
#zfs snapshot dbpool/dba/ora@Thursday
Also you can use –r option to create snapshots in one command for its all dependent filesystems of dbpool/dba
#zfs snapshot -r dbpool/dba@snapshot1
#zfs list -t snapshot -r dbpool/dba
zfs list -t snapshot -r dbpool/dba
NAME USED AVAIL REFER MOUNTPOINT
dbpool/dba @snapshot1 0 – 50K –
dbpool/dba/ora@snapshot1 0 – 10.00G –
dbpool/dba/app@snapshot1 0 – 20.00G –
Now use the below command to destroy the snapshots, as of for your information, without deleting the existing snapshots you cannot delete the datasets means storage pool and its dependent file systems
#zfs destroy dbpool/dba/ora@Thursday
Now you have successfully created and destroyed the snapshots for the zfs filesystems.
