In my previous post, explained, how to set date and time in Linux machine. Here will show you how to sync hardware clock with system time if both not in sync. Always make sure hardware clock in sync with the system time, if not you may find an application slowness issue or sometimes system may reboot too. Therefore, to keep the systems running in a smoother way make sure both in sync which is always highly recommended. Follow the below steps to perform the same.
Step 1: Login to the system as a root user
Step 2: Check the current date and time in hardware clock by executing the below command in shell prompt
# hwclock —-show
# hwclock –r
Note: If you find system and hardware clock, not in sync then execute the below steps.
Step 3: Command to sync hardware clock with system time
# hwclock —-systohc
# hwclock —-systohc —-localtime
# hwclock –w
