Modifying Compute Hostlist:
The default installation of Grid Engine under Rocks Cluster creates an allhost lists containing all hosts within the environment.
To ensure only the 8 Compute blades are available to run jobs, replace ‘allhosts‘ host list with ‘comphosts‘ containing only the Compute Hosts.
Extract the current allhosts list from Grid Engine and copy the template to a comphosts list
# qconf -shgrp @allhosts > /tmp/allhosts.list
# cp /tmp/allhosts.list /tmp/comphosts.list
# vi /tmp/comphosts.list
Once the list has been updated to contain only compute nodes, add the new host list to Grid Engine
# qconf -Ahgrp /tmp/comphosts.list
Confirm creation of new hostlist
# qconf -shgrpl
# qconf -shgrp @comphosts
hostlist compute-1-2.local compute-1-3.local compute-1-4.local compute-1-5.local compute-1-6.local compute-1-7.local compute-1-8.local compute-1-1.local
Later, when creating new queues, we will replace the allhosts list with this newly created comphosts list.
Configuring Submit Host:
By default all installed nodes are added as administrative hosts, meaning they can update Grid Engine configuration.
In order for the Login Node (loginnode) to act as the Submit host for the environment, it needs to be added to the configuration using the following command:
# qconf -as loginnode
Confirm by typing:
# qconf -ss
