In this post will show you the commands used in Unix or Linux operating system to stop and start Oracle database and listener services. Here I have used RedHat Linux server as an OS platform to show you the steps to stop and start of both Oracle database and listener services.To perform the same as a first step you need to login to Linux OS as an oracle user and continue with the following screenshots and commands to stop and start the services successfully.
Once you have logged in successfully as an oracle user, start the listener first and continue with starting the Oracle database services, the same first you stop listener and continue with stopping Oracle database services.
How to Check the Status of Listener and Oracle Database Services:
To check the status of Oracle Database Services,
- Stopped State Check and Output
- Running State Check and Output
To check Listener status,
- Stopped & Running State Check
How to Stop and Start Listener and Oracle Database Services:
Login into Linux or Unix server as an Oracle user and continue with following commands and screenshots,
- To Stop Listener Services
$ lsnrctl stop
- To Start Listener Services
- To Start Oracle Database Services
- To Stop Oracle databases Services
$ sqlplus / as sysdba
SQL> shutdown immediate
